College of Marin lost its regular season opener 9-5 to Solano College on March 5. The Mariners fell behind early, but rallied to tie thanks to a leadoff single and a couple of walks, capped by a two RBI hit from third baseman Nick Baldocchi.
A big top of the sixth, however, put Solano ahead for good, despite productive outings from Baldocchi, who ended up with three hits and three RBIs, and Abel Gonzales, who smashed a homerun and a single.
COM pitcher Jesse DeLong struck out seven over 5 2/3 innings, pitching well until he ran into trouble in the sixth inning.
COM's next home game is Tuesday, March 16 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
