College loses biology tutor

On Feb. 16 Laura Maatz, an anatomy and physiology tutor at College of Marin died. She is survived by her husband John Hill of San Rafael and her son Mark Gregory Maatz. Ms. Maatz was known for being highly dedicated to her students and their progress. Colleagues say she was committed to making the tutoring experience for every student as high quality as possible. She also worked closely with many people in the biology department.
A memorial service was held on Feb. 20 at Monte's Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo. The learning center will be purchasing a tree to plant in Ms. Maatz' honor. For information on donations, contact Becky Reetz at the Learning Center.
