COM professor James Tipton has recently published his book "Annette Vallon: A Novel of the French Revolution," released in November of 2007. The book is about the life of William Wordsworth's French lover. Tipton is not only an author but a professor here at College of Marin. He instructs English 202, 203 and also teaches English 150.

Tipton has been working on the book for almost 15 years, working on the bulk of the novel in the early '90s but then shelving it for a long time.

Set during the blood-soaked French proletariat uprising, the story focuses on a youthful, well-to-do Frenchwoman who meets the yet-to-be-discovered English poet Wordsworth, and chronicles the torrid love affair between the two.

While not a complete work of fiction, Tipton took many creative liberties with the story as most of the hard information on the affair between Vallon and Wordsworth had been destroyed by Wordsworth's grandson.

"Annette Vallon: A Novel of the French Revolution" is available at the College of Marin bookstore. as well as through Harper Collins publishers and Amazon.com online for $19.95 suggested retail price.
