College of Marin, in its effort to become green, replaced 40 standard urinals with a new waterless version that will save 2.5 million gallons of water a year, as well as seventeen thousand dollars a year in maintenance, water, and sewer costs. For each urinal, a $400 rebate was given by the Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) resulting in an expenditure of only six thousand dollars by the district's operations and maintenance funds for the upgrade. The installation of these new fixtures has made COM the first school district to make this new technology a reality.
