Oregon track and field assistant coach Kelli Blair LaBounty confirmed today to the Emerald that her contract was not renewed by the University of Oregon athletic department and that she will not return next season to coach the Ducks. When Blair LaBounty, 36, arrived at the track and field offices at the Casanova Center Wednesday morning, she was met by associate head coach Dan Steele and assistant athletic director Bill Clever and was notified she would be let go.

Coming into the 2008 season, Ashton Eaton's best decathlon performance was good for third place at the 2007 USA Junior Championships and a mark of 7,155 points. He now finds himself in fifth place after the first day of the decathlon at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials, where he was seeded seventh in a field of 20 competitors.

It's been a big week for USC senior soccer player Amy Rodriguez.
While her USC teammates were honored at the White House for winning the 2007 National Championship, Rodriguez was named to the U.S. Women's Soccer Olympic Team on Monday.
"I thought winning the national championship was good and a long shot," Rodriguez said to USC Sports Information.
